Hillmen pound St. Pat's 56-14

It's hard to have a better game than John Ruettiger had tonight - in fact it's impossible.

Ruettiger had 6 completions in 6 attempts for 197 yards and 3 TD's - all in the first half.

It only took a minute and 40 seconds, and that was after St Pat's got the opening lick off and attempted a fake punt on their own 20. Ruettiger hit Krisch with a 10 yard TD.

St Pat's mounted a 17 play ball control drive that died on the JCA 16.

The second play of the following JCA series was a 10 yard pass to Hudetz that he took 84 yards for another TD.

In the second quarter Ruettiger just missed another TD - tossing a 36 yarder to Sean Sheppard down to the 1.

After a St. Pats TD - Ruettiger hit Bennett on a 40 yard TD.

43-7 at the half, and the game was pretty much over. The non-starters saw plenty of action in the second half - including a scoring drive of their own.

The only downside of the evening was a knee injury to DE Dan Sharp Jr. in the second quarter. 6'5" Sharp had a good game batting down the first pass attempt of the night, and keeping pressure on St. Pat's QB.

"St. Pat's defensive line and linebackers hit every bit as hard as Mt. Carmel did in our first game," said Coach Sharp.

"It was important for us to go up by a couple TD's to take them out of the ball control offense. We ran what? 3 plays in the first quarter"

"Ruettiger was really something, he has great touch, he was so accurate tonight."

Was the fake punt a surprise? "Not at all, they did it twice to New Trier last week, so we knew it was a tendency they had. Our scout picked that one out."

With this kind of passing ability, to go along with the Hillmen running attack, the opposition will have their hands full. A very good game plan tonight, a good mix of pass and run, and excellent execution.

Let's hope Dan Jr. makes a speedy recovery, and returns soon.
